Holster review

I am a full time paramedic and I switched from raptors to the x shears about 6 months ago.
I originally had the standard kydex holster by x shear and that wore out within 6 months of regular use. The retention stopped working first and then one of the arms that went around the belt broke.
I went online to get the soft holster when I saw the micro. I have had the micro holster for 2 weeks and it I cannot use it any more. It is not broken but there is no good position for it.
I traditionally kept my shears on my left side in the 8 o’clock position. When I position the micro holster in that position with the blade to the rear, the shears come out when I get in a vehicle because the seat pushes on the blade. When the blades face forward it digs into my side. If I place the shears on my right with the blades to the rear they also pop out. With the blades forward they bump into my radio and key up the mic. In the 6 o’clock position they work their way off my belt when in the vehicle and they are too hard to reach. My rigging belt that I wear on duty makes it impossible in the 11, 12, or 1 oclock positions.
I thought the micro holster was a good idea but it is not working out for me. I love the shears but 0/2 on the holsters.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We understand the importance of a holster that works well in a variety of duty setups, especially for full-time paramedics like yourself. From your review, it sounds like your duty belt and positioning preferences may be making it challenging to find the right placement for the Micro Holster.

For better functionality, we recommend trying to rearrange your duty belt to accommodate the holster at either the 1 o'clock or 11 o'clock positions. These positions may work better with your setup and help prevent the shears from dislodging when entering or exiting your vehicle. Alternatively, the holster can also be attached to your radio strap or the Molle on your trauma bag for increased versatility and to avoid interference with other gear.

We designed the Micro Holster to offer multiple mounting options to suit a variety of setups and the shears can be holstered tip up or tip down from either side. We hope these solutions will improve your experience. If you need further assistance or have additional questions, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help!

Essential emergency gear

The XShear & micro holster are a perfect combination for emergency nurses and EMT/Paramedics looking to always have shears handy for when they are needed the most. The holster has a minimal profile, easily carried on scrubs or a belt, and the shears are much better quality than any medical shears on the market. Multi-tools are useful, but the main reason we carry the shears are to access a patient when seconds count.

Great holster!

Love the compact design. It fits on my 1.5” wide leather radio strap perfectly and is snug enough it won’t move.

Surprisingly strong

Pros: surprisingly strong and sturdy, does genuinely attach to most things, clip gets caught on much less than the old style tactical carrier
Cons: lacks any haptic feedback so it's difficult to tell if the shears are locked in or ready to be pulled out when they're carried somewhere that sight of the shears is compromised (like on one's back)
The tips of the shears being exposed was also surprisingly not an issue, the holster keeps them shut.
