XShear Trauma Shears are designed for rapid cutting though heavy textile materials. Always use caution when cutting near a person or equipment as they are a sharp cutting tool and can cause injury if misused. Always assure there is no skin in contact with the cutting surface of the blade when using. Always keep hands and fingers clear of the blade during use. Assure your shears are sharp and in good working condition and do not use if loose or damaged.

XShear Trauma Shears may be cleaned with any commercial disinfectant or bleach solution. Many of these solutions are corrosive and may contribute to surface corrosion on the shears so we recommend rinsing with water allowing shears to dry completely after disinfecting.

Applying a drop of lubricating oil to the pivot point and surface of the shears will help assure smooth operation and reduce risk of surface corrosion.

Adhesive residue and fiberglass can sometimes be removed with 100% acetone (nail polish remover).

XShear Trauma Shears are capable of being sanitized by autoclave using standard instrument procedures however, they are not designed or approved to be used as sterile instruments.

For deep cleaning the shears may be disassembled using a Torx T15 bit and removing the center bolt. Pay close attention to reassemble the shears in the proper order.

XShear Trauma Shears may be sharpened as needed. We use a local professional service for sharpening and would be happy to sharpen your shears if you wish to send them in. Alternatively, you could see if there is a service in your area, sometimes available through hardware stores.
